The Video Editor's Paradise: CyberLink PowerDirector, an NVIDIA RTX-driven video software
3D artists can use new features and faster workflows in Adobe Substance 3D Modeler and SideFX:Houdini. Content creators using Topaz Video AI Pro can now enhance photos and videos faster with NVIDIA TensorRT acceleration.
The August Studio driver update is now available for creators and gamers to install on their RTX-powered PCs, enabling them to use the latest NVIDIA drivers and technologies.
This week's NVIDIA Studio creative acceleration artist Stavros Liaskos is using the NVIDIA Omniverse platform (a platform for building and connecting OpenUSD applications) to create physically accurate 3D digital replicas of Greek Orthodox churches, temples, and monasteries.
Watch the replay of NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang's fireside chat with Wired senior writer Lauren Goode and Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg at SIGGRAPH to learn about the latest breakthroughs in graphics and generative AI. The NVIDIA NVENC video encoder, built into each RTX graphics card, can offload the computationally intensive task of video encoding from the CPU to a dedicated part on the GPU.
CyberLink PowerDirector is a popular video editing program. The app recently added support for RTX Video HDR and has now added a setting to improve HEVC quality using NVIDIA NVENC HEVC Ultra High Quality mode.
The new feature reduces bitrate and improves encoding efficiency by 10%, greatly enhancing video quality. Content creators can use custom settings to deliver an excellent viewing experience for their audience.
Through the Alpha export function, users can export HEVC videos with an Alpha channel, allowing them to add overlay effects to their videos. This technology can be used to create transparent backgrounds and quickly process animated overlay layers, making it an ideal choice for creating social media content.
Through the Alpha channel, users can export HEVC videos 8 times faster than with other processors supporting run-length encoding, and file size is reduced to 1% of the original.
Adobe Substance 3D Modeler is a multi-surface 3D sculpting tool for artists, virtual effects experts, and designers. The tool has released an AI-driven geometry feature, Block to Stock, making prototype creation with complex shapes faster. This feature allows you to quickly replace rough 3D shapes with more refined, shape-similar pre-existing 3D models, enabling you to create highly detailed shapes in a short period of time.
The latest 20.5 version of SideFX - Houdini, a 3D procedural software for modeling, animation, and lighting, has added NVIDIA OptiX 8 and NVIDIA's shader execution reordering functions to its Karma XPU renderer, which are exclusive to NVIDIA RTX GPUs.
Through these new features, computationally intensive tasks are executed up to four times faster on RTX GPUs.
Topaz Video AI Pro is an enhancing software used for noise reduction, sharpening, and magnifying photos and videos. The software has added TensorRT acceleration for GPU multi-core configurations, enabling GPU multi-core parallel processing and greatly speeding up rendering. The rendering speed is increased by up to 2 times when using GPU dual-core compared to GPU single-core systems, and the faster the GPU cores, the faster the rendering speed.
A virtual Greek cultural site dazzles the eyes
Stavros Liaskos, the current general manager of visual communication company Reyelise, has created immersive works that allow everyone to explore more than 30 Greek cultural sites in virtual reality (VR).
Liaskos dedicated the project to his father, who passed away last year.
He said, "My father taught me the value of patience and made me believe that nothing is impossible." His wisdom and teachings inspire me every day. After importing the model into NVIDIA Omniverse using OpenUSD, Liaskos packaged the XR scene so that it could be streamed to VR headsets using NVIDIA Omniverse Create XR spatial computing applications or the Unity engine, providing an immersive viewing experience.
Liaskos said: "This approach will be able to more prominently showcase the architectural beauty and cultural significance of these locations. The simulation must be good enough to recreate the sense of tranquility and security that is so irresistible when visiting a deeply spiritual space."
