Guidelines for Remote ID Implementation for DJI Products in Japan

DJI Mini 4 Pro, DJI Air 3, DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI Mavic 3 Series, DJI Air 2S, DJI Mini 2, DJI Mini 2 SE, DJI FPV, DJI Mini 3, DJI Mavic 3 Pro.

[Note] Remote ID implementation operations must be conducted within Japan.

1. Drone registration

Starting from June 20, 2022, the Japanese government requires that all drones weighing over 100g be registered and equipped with Remote ID functionality. This regulation applies to all drones weighing over 100g, therefore all DJI drone models are within the scope of the regulation.

The methods for drone registration and Remote ID registration are detailed in the Unmanned Aircraft Registration Handbook, which is compiled by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. You can also check the Unmanned Aircraft Registration Portal for more information.

2.Models that support Remote ID and DJI Fly app versions

DJI drone models that are compatible with Remote ID and the DJI Fly app as of January 2024 are as follows:

DJI Mini 4 Pro, DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI Mavic 3 Series, DJI Air 2S, Mavic Air 2, DJI Mini 2, DJI Mini 2 SE, DJI FPV, DJI Mini 3, DJI Mavic 3 Pro, DJI Air 3.

The DJI Fly

The DJI Fly app for iOS/Android is version 1.6.6 or higher.

3. Introduction to Remote ID Implementation for Drones

1) In the drone registration system, select "Yes (built-in)" for "Remote ID's existence or absence".

2) Update DJI Fly to version 1.6.6 or higher.

3) Please update the firmware of the drone/remote controller to the latest version.

4) Import Remote ID registration information from DJI Fly.

4.How to update DJI Fly and update the firmware of the aircraft and transmitter

Connect the aircraft and transmitter, turn them on, open DJI Fly, go to the FPV screen, click the upper right corner "..."

Click "About" to view the firmware version of the aircraft, the firmware version of the transmitter, and the App version.Click "Check for Update" to ensure that DJI Fly version is V1.6.6 or above, and the firmware version is the latest.

5. How to import Remote ID into the aircraft:

[Tip] The operation below requires an internet connection.

After updating DJI Fly, the aircraft, and the transmitter to the latest version, connect the aircraft and transmitter, open DJI Fly, go to the FPV screen, click the upper right corner "..."

Click "Security" and scroll down the screen, click "UAS Remote Identification" > "Import".

[Tip] After turning on the aircraft, please check whether the DJI Fly App map location is within Japan, otherwise, the DJI Fly App interface will not display the "UAS Remote Identification" setting option.

Click "Import" to enter the "Japan Civil Aviation Administration" interface;The system will automatically display the connected aircraft serial number (SN), click "Log in and import".

Input the login ID and password of the drone registration system, then click "同意して連携"；

By linking the information of the aircraft with that of the drone registration system, Remote ID will be imported into the aircraft.

When you see "インポートしました" it means that the Remote ID has been successfully imported. In DJI Fly, the "UAS Remote Identification" will display "Imported," indicating that the Remote ID importation has been completed.

You will also receive an email from the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau notifying you that your remote identification information has been registered successfully. Please be sure to check and confirm that the information is accurate; once you have confirmed that the information is correct.
