The Milkor380 drone explores new approaches to unmanned warfare for the South African military.

According to a report on September 20th from the Belgian website "Military Appraisal," at the 2024 African Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (AAD-2024), which took place from September 19th to 23rd, the South African defense group Milkor launched a new drone product called the Milkor380.

The report states that this advanced tactical drone "stands out for its mobility, speed, and precision, demonstrating its potential as a leading combat drone." The Milkor380 will be integrated into the South African armed forces, opening up new avenues for unmanned combat for the South African military.

It is understood that the Milkor380 is a multi-purpose drone designed for reconnaissance and strike missions. It is equipped with advanced optical and radar systems that can provide real-time data transmission in high definition, infrared, and multi-spectral formats. Its autonomous flight system simplifies the execution of complex tasks and provides five mounting points for loading various payloads, from electronic warfare systems to weapons.

It is reported that the drone has a flight endurance of more than 30 hours and a range of more than 4,000 kilometers, surpassing the mission duration and range of the American MQ-9 Reaper and the Turkish TB-2 drone. The drone has a wingspan of 18.6 meters, a total takeoff weight of 1,500 kilograms, and can carry a payload of 220 kilograms (including fuel), with a cruising speed ranging from 110 to 150 kilometers per hour.
