Doing outdoor power supplies in the South African market
Since 2018, the power rationing problem in South Africa has been very serious. For example, there were power rationing for 47 days in 2021. In August of this year, the South African Ministry of Energy began to issue measures for the national electricity market planning. One of the points was to moderately adjust the energy structure and vigorously develop renewable energy: wind power and photovoltaic power generation. Moreover, a global tender was conducted for the construction of renewable energy projects in South Africa. As part of clean energy, the market potential of outdoor portable power supplies can be glimpsed in view of the actual problems and policy trends in South Africa.
In 2022, we began to contact the first B-end customer in South Africa, and it was also when the 150W portable power supply just completed the production test. The first stage of communication with the customer: clarify the procurement requirements and confirm the samples; for the 150W power supply in accordance with the South African standard, the plug standard was changed. After confirming the sample of the finished product by sending it, the customer placed an order for 200 sets, and later placed repeat orders for 600W and 150W power supplies, approximately a 20-foot container. This can also be regarded as a relatively successful first step for us towards the South African market. Later, foreign trade companies doing the South African market began to establish cooperation with us one after another.
Precautions for power supplies for the South African market:
1. The charging socket should be replaced with the South African standard: triangular round head plug
2. Certification: National standard certification is acceptable + UN38.3 transportation certification (each model needs to be done)
