A new herbicide was unveiled at the Iberian Corn Congress in Lisbon, Portugal, where a Chinese company introduced Evolya, a new herbicide containing metsulfuron that is effective for pre- and early post-emergence control of a wide range of weeds in corn. Evolya shows excellent crop selectivity.

Another corn herbicide is Indavius, for which the Chinese company is awaiting registration approval. Indavius' active ingredient is pethoxamid, suitable for pre- and early post-emergence control of grass and broadleaf weeds in corn.

Both of these new solutions meet the needs of corn growers. Due to the introduction of restrictions or bans on some highly effective herbicide active substances in Europe, the use of pre-emergence herbicides is increasingly limited.

The company's biological agents department also highlighted the application of its biostimulants, these more sustainable products, at the conference. The use of these products aims to maintain corn yield growth while reducing the use of mineral fertilizers. The microbial fertilizer Nutribio N, which has the ability to fix nitrogen and promote plant growth, has undergone trials and has shown that it can reduce mineral fertilizer use by 13% while increasing yield by 993 kg and 742 kg in 2022 and 2023, respectively. The seed division introduced a series of corn hybrids developed under its research projects, with the SY Fuerza and SY Andromeda varieties performing well in the Iberian market and showing high consistency in application effects. This year, the high-quality SY Clipser hybrid became an important new product in the grain sector.

In the area of digital agriculture, the Chinese company will launch its digital platform Cropwise's seed selection module in Portugal. This module can provide highly accurate and reliable personalized recommendations to help select the most suitable corn and sunflower seeds for each plot.
